2021 Program Overview

What you can expect...

First Saturday of Each Month • Opening a New Theme
*Live Zoom | 8am-12pm PST
An overview of the month’s material, and an orientation to the learning objectives for the theme and topics. This four-hour session will include didactic presentations, asana practice, meditation, pranayama, break-out groups, and discussion.

Every Tuesday • Shared Learning Session
*Live Zoom | 7am-8:30am PST
This weekly class brings more focus onto a particular aspect of yoga, including anatomy, philosophy, Q&A, and learning assessment.

Twice a Month Thursday • Guided Yoga Class
*Live Zoom | 7am-8:30am PST
We'll explore asana, pranayama and meditation together as a cohort. Initially this weekly session will be led by BRF faculty. Eventually this will be where students are invited to practice their teaching. Finally, this will be where students offer their practicum class and receive feedback from instructors and peers.

At Your Pace • Self-Study Practice
Our course will have a dedicated online classroom space where we will post recordings of archived live Zoom sessions, additional resources, and written homework assignments. Throughout the month you will be invited into self-guided explorations of nature, awareness, required reading and personal yoga practice. Together we will create a brave space of accountability where each person is uniquely unfolding their own journey in community. You can expect approximately 3-4 hours of self-study per week.

*Live Zoom sessions will be recorded and archived for the duration of the course. If you are unable to attend a session, you will be able to review it later at your convenience. However, live attendance is encouraged, and a minimum number of synchronous learning hours is required for certification.

Testimonials

from WildYoga Graduates

Sirin Petch

Balanced Rock's WildYoga teacher training program exceeded my expectations. I started their immersion program unsure of whether or not I wanted to teach, but with the hope of deepening my own personal practice. The instructors Dennis, Paula, Heather, Jana, and Eliza, were extremely knowledgeable about anatomy, safe practice, special considerations, and Ayurveda. They each brought their own special gifts which were extremely diverse - both in yoga style and knowledge base. Now I have my RYT-200, a desire to share the knowledge they've given to me, and a community of friends who believe passionately in the interconnectedness of all beings and our bond with the Earth and environment.

I chose the Balanced Rock WildYoga program because of their integration of the natural world into their teaching and practice, as well as their skilled instructors from various backgrounds. I also enjoyed that Balanced Rock pushed me to discover what MY own personal Yoga was. Balanced Rock focuses on teachings from several different styles, synthesizing their own unique blend of "Wild" Yoga--yoga that can be defined by the practitioner and calls upon the energy of the natural world for support, inspiration, and connection. Balanced Rock also brings in a healthy background of traditional outdoor education techniques that help the learners to learn from experience. I would recommend this program to anyone, from the beginning yogi to the more practiced, as their use of the outdoor classroom will add challenge and perspective to any level of practitioner.

Cassidy Engfer

Balanced Rock created an awesome training that allows the knowledge to integrate over a longer span of time. The YTT Instructors were really knowledgeable and kind. I really enjoyed the way that the training was broken down into modules based on the 5-elements which correlates with the philosophy that they teach. The small number of participants throughout the training really allowed for one-on-one time with the instructors and to build a close knit yoga family.

Healthy plants and trees yield abundant flowers and fruits. Similarly, from a healthy person, smiles and happiness shine forth like the rays of the sun.
